Prominent landmark Upama Katha In Sri Lanka it is "Aesop's fables" that has become popular so far. But for the first time the book on fables by Harsha Perera in Sinhala language promotes the enthusiasm of the reader. This book in three parts consists of the first part with fables like those of Aesop. The second part comprises factual episodes put in fiction and the third part has stories with proverbs coined by the author himself. The preface to the book is written by Kalasuri Arisen Ahubudu and the picture describing the stories are drawn for each story by Sri Lanka's reputed and talented artist Talangama Jayasinghe. The book enhances the reading interest of the young and the old and is price marked reasonably at Rs. 175. I would like to add that this book is yet another prominent landmark in the field of Sinhala literature. - Sarachchandra Jayakody, Editor - Sinhala, Encyclopedia **** Back **** |
