Lanka win opening practice game Sri Lanka under 19 team won their opening practice match against Bogra DSA XI by 140 runs at Bogra Stadium on Thursday. Sri Lanka were dismissed for 206 off 48.5 overs but hit back hard to bowl out the local team for 66 in 29.3 overs. Scores: Sri Lanka 206 (48.5 overs) (U. Tharanga 32, D. Kularatne 31, Kaushal Silva 35, N. Nawala 23, F. Maharoof 19, Mehedi 4 for 21, Arman 3 for 25, Palash 3 for 20) Bogra DCA 66 (29.3 overs) (Palash 11 n.o., K. Kulasekara 4 for 5, Maharoof 3 for 13) Both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have been impressed with newly constructed Bogra District Stadium. Sri Lanka were the first ever international side to take the field in Bogra. Over 10,000 fans turned up to watch them beat the local representative XI, states an ICC press release. Team manager Ashley de Silva said the Sri Lanka players were happy with the set-up at the venue. "It was great to see so many spectators at our opening practice match and the venue is looking really good," said de Silva. Of the 13 sides in action, only Canada, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Scotland failed to win their opening practice matches. West Indies produced the most impressive performance of the day, racking up 333 in Khulna with Assad Badyn Fudadin top-scoring with 107 off 71 balls. Australia also went past the 300-run mark scoring 307-7 against Rajshahi DSA XI at Rajshahi with Theo Doropoulos scoring 106. |
