Those in the Prime Minister's media unit, while enjoying the benefits, acted even above the Ministers. His misfortune in the event of becoming the Leader of the Opposition again, will be the result of its disastrous performance. The media unit had spent a large sum of his and the party's money.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was reported to have made these comments special discussion held at Temple Trees attended by Gairruke Perusinghe, Dhammike Ganganath Dissanayake, Bandula Padmakumara, Shirley Anil de Silva (Rupavahini), Thushara Gunaratne, Dinith Chintheke Karunaratne (Lankadeepa), Vasanthe Priya Ramanayake, Kusal Perera, Chandana Sooriyabandara, Claude Gurubavila, Prabath Weeraratne (Divaina).

The Prime Minister had been very critical of the media unit and had accused them of being responsible for the downfall of the government.
