Five prosecution witnesses to give evidence by Sarath Malalasekera Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Sarojini Kusala Weerawardena allowed a CID application to summon five prosecution witnesses to give evidence in the case against Chairman Sri Lanka Telecom and Sri Lanka Cricket Thilanga Sumathipala on February 10. The five prosecution witnesses are former Cricket Board Executive Dhammika Ranatunga, Cricket Board Administrative Officer K. Rajasingham, former Sri Lankan cricket captain and Cricket Board Executive Anura Tennakoon, Mahinda Godage alias Bada Mahinda, now in remand custody and Buddhika Priyasantha Godage, a brother of Bada Mahinda. The Judge issued summons on an application by State Counsel Rohitha Jayasundera who appeared with the CID for the prosecution. Sumathipala is charged with aiding and abetting underworld gang leader Dhammika Amarasinghe to go to London to witness the World Cricket Cup in 1999 on a forged passport. |
