13 refugees return to Lanka from India Voluntary repatriation of Sri Lankan refugees in India is to be expedited with the assistance of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. A series of meetings were conducted between the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees and UNHCR, India and Sri Lanka to discuss this recently, a ministry official said. Thirteen Sri Lankan refugees returned recently to Sri Lanka from South India. They are residents of Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Paranthan. The refugees produced before Mannar Magistrate, A. H. M. Abdullah were ordered to resettle in their home towns. A large number of refugees are now returning from South India, Lankapuvath said. |
