Getting ready for "My Wedding 2004"

"My Wedding 2004" will be the bridal event of the year, said Deputy Chairman/Chief Executive Director, Ceylinco Consolidated, Jagath Alwis at a media briefing to announce a gala event at Hotel Taj Samudra recently.

"My Wedding 2004" presented by Ceylinco Exhibition and Conventions is to be held from February 19-22 at the BMICH (new wing), focusing on would be service providers such as bridal dressers, salons, beauty therapists, designers, cake decorators, caterers, gift items, beauty salon products, health products, cosmetics, printers, jewellers, photographers, hotels etc.

Mr. Alwis said: "This mega event brings all industry pioneers and highly reputed product and service suppliers under one roof and spread over 120 stalls. It represents the entirety of one's wedding needs at one location".

He added that "My Wedding 2004" has a holistic approach to its theme. Every single detail has been looked into with great detail and will be presented in a very professional manner.

"My Wedding 2004" in fact takes a closer look at how one's wedding should be planned along every step of the way. It also features stalls representing banks, insurance agents, travel agents and several others. "In other words, if you are in a product or service that will relate not just for the 'to-be married' people but for the (post wedding) life that lies ahead, this event is for you too," he added.

Ceylinco Exhibition & Conventions was set up six months ago and has as its mission the providing of a specialised service in event management covering areas such as organising local and international exhibitions, trade fairs, consumer fairs, product launches and other special events and promotions throughout the year.

"My Wedding 2004" is billed as the country's most exclusive and highly focused wedding event of the year. It offers visitors a great deal more than what Sri Lanka's conventional bridal fairs usually offer.

"We don't want to give too much details. We wanted it to be a surprise," said Designer, Model Co-ordinator and Choreographer, Brian Kerkoven.

"We will not focus too much on brides. In fact it is important to pay attention on the bridegroom and the retinue.

"People should be taught what to wear for a wedding, different designs etc," Kerkoven said. Every evening of the four days (Feb. 19-22) there will be a fashion show. - AM
