Fazal heads WPRFU The 12th Annual General Meeting of the Western Province Rugby Football Union was held at the SLRFU headquarters recently. In 1992 the Western Province RFU was appointed by the SLRFU and the first president elected in 1993 was SSP Sumith Silva. The following officials retained their posts uncontested: Fazal Mohamed (President WPRFU), Wimal Senanayake (Deputy President WPRFU), DIG Nimal Lewke (Vice President), Gen. H. M. N. Krishnaratne (Vice President), Sqr. Ldr. Sanjaya Fernando (Hony Treasurer). In place of the outgoing Secretary (WPRFU) Nizam Jamaldeen, the outgoing committee recommended Roshandeen of Havelock SC and Kenneth de Silva of CH & FC for the post. At the voting Kenneth de Silva was elected as Hony. Secretary (WPRFU). Kamal Mahendra of Havelocks SC was elected Asst. Treasurer while Romesh de Livera was elected Asst. Secretary. Mohan Balasuriya (President SLRFU) who was present commended the good services rendered by the WPRFU last year, while Fazal Mohamed (President WPRFU) thanked Puffins SC for the presentation of rugby materials to needy schools of Western Province and few school players who had done well in last year's tournaments conducted by the WPRFU had gained entrance to leading clubs. |
