Romesh Vaitilingam, eldest son of Angela and Skanda Vaitilingam of Bristol, England (and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. N. Vaitilingam of Colombo) was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to Economics and Social Science. This was announced in the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours. He received the honour from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace on December 10, 2003. Romesh is an Editor, Media Consultant and author of several books. He works for the Economic and Social Research Council of Great Britain and the Royal Economic Society. He is also Editor of the Economics Journals of the Universities of Bristol and Essex. |
