by Irangika Range "Bolivianu Dinapotha", journalist Malinee Govinnage's Sinhala translation of Ernesto Che Guevara's Bolivian Diary was launched at the National Library and Documentation Service Board auditorium. Colombo University Political Science and State Policies Department lecturer Damma Dissanayaka said according to Aristotle's interpretation, political violence has not been changed and still exist in the society. "While historical values in the world appear to get destroyed with time, political violence seems to increase and see no change in our society," he said. Dissanayake said under this situation, our destiny is also decided by violence because everybody cannot arrive at a decent political concept. "According to history, thousands of humans had devastated and have suffered because of political violence and some seemed to tolerate violence in politics stating it was the current nature," Dissanayake said. "Both victims and freedom fighters restrain in the one structure today and the LTTE who claim as freedom fighters of the Northern province and some parties who represent as freedom fighters in the South were also confined the same structure," he said. "Che Guevara also restrained in this structure and he tried to search freedom from political violence," he said. Journalist Mohan Samaranayaka said Imperialism and Capitalism was very fierce today. "Although several international organisations including the International Atomic Energy Authority have ensured that there were no nuclear weapons in Iraq, US President George Bush attacked Iraq," Samaranayaka said. He said according to the constitution, everybody was equal before the law but it was otherwise for those who have force and funds. He said although Che Guevara used violence against the Imperialism earlier, today violence erupts through riots. Govinnage said she attempted to write the book because former Editor of Silumina, Nimal Horana invited her to compile the set of stories of Che Guevara to the Silumina newspaper. She decided to publish the book due to the readers' response. She thanked former Silumina Editor Nimal Horana and Priyanjana Suresh of Suravi publishing. |
