Low scoring continues at Galle

Southern Province collapsed to 113 for 7 in their second innings on day two of their inter provincial cricket tournament match against Uva Province played at the Galle Stadium yesterday.

Marvan Atapattu again hit a top score of 49 following his knock of 44 in the first innings.

The pace spin combination of Chamila Gamage and Niroshan Bandaratilleke did the damage sharing five wickets between them. However with a first innings lead of 75 runs Southern Province have now built up an overall lead of 188 runs with three wickets still in hand.

Earlier Uva Province added only ten runs to their overnight score and were bowled out just 91 - the lowest score in the tournament.

Dhammika Prasad captured the last three wickets which fell yesterday and finished with the excellent figures of 6 for 35. He was well supported by Charitha Buddhika who took 3 for 29).

Southern Province: 166 and 113 for 7 (Marvan Atapattu 49, Chamara Silva 23, Nimesh Perera 24, Chamila Gamage 3 for 29, Niroshan Bandaratilleke 2 for 23)

Uva Province: 91 (Ian Daniel 28, Charitha Buddhika 3 for 29, Dhammika Prasad 6 for 35)

Rain in Dambulla

Not a ball was bowled on the second day as heavy rain washed out the inter provincial cricket tournament match between Central Province and Western Province at the Dambulla International Stadium yesterday. Central Province batting first made 276 runs in their first innings on Saturday.
