Ayesha is Mountain Bike champion

Ayesha Sumanaweera who hails from a cycling family stole the limelight in the Mountain Biking category at the Jayodha Cycle Rally held at Battaramulla on Saturday.

Ayesha was a clear winner in the girls under-19 event outclassing K. Delrin Fernando from Wennappuwa comfortably. She was in the front from the beginning and maintained the supremacy until the finish.

The under-19 event for boys was won by Krishantha Kumara. He was closely followed by Dinesh Dhanushka and Mohamed Shaleep.

Steve Nugera went on to win the under-16 event for Mountain Bikes. The track at Battaramulla was good for mountain bikers. It was not as hard as other circuits in the country.

The flat track that was used for racing event was a superb one for cyclists as the conductors and the riders had no problems in controlling traffic at any stage.
