CID to submit report by Sarath Malalasekera The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probing the incident involving the sons of two Ministers will submit a comprehensive report before the Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Sarath C. Karunaratne on January 27, Earlier, the CID consulted Solicitor General C. R. de Silva, PC regarding the request by the Secretary to Tertiary Education Minister Kabeer Hashim, in connection with complainants who agreed to repair the damaged caused to the Ministry vehicle at their own expenses. On the Solicitor General's direction, the CID forwarded the dossier of the investigations and the documents received from the secretary and the complainants to the Attorney General for his advice. The Judge earlier granted bail to six suspects including the two sons of Minister S. B. Dissanayake and a son of Minister Mahinda Wijesekera. They were directed to appear in court on January 27.Earlier, the court on an application by the CID, impounded the two ministers' sons passports and directed the Immigration and Emigration authorities about the Court order. The six suspects who surrendered to the CID through Minister Wijesekera were later produced before the Magistrate. According to Police reports, the three youth are alleged to have assaulted some relatives of Hashim injuring several persons who were at the night club. |
