Nearly 650 students were enrolled at the University of Moratuwa to the Faculties of Engineering and Information Technology. At the inauguration ceremony, the chief President of Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, Priyal de Silva, a former university student commended the rapid development both in academic standards and student numbers at the university. University Grants Commission Vice Chairman Prof. Lakshman Ratnayake, guest of honour, also a former student of the university, indicated the trend during the lat few years for the best students in the GCE 'A' Level mathematics stream to opt to enter the University of Moratuwa. University's Vice Chancellor Prof. Dayantha Wijeyesekera welcomed the new students and expressed his appreciation to the staff and students for enabling the university to achieve an excellent reputation of high academic achievement and being the only university which had functioned continuously for the last four years, having the highest employability and above all being a university free for ragging. |
