Man’s best friends: They yearn to break free. These dogs, who long to be loved by humans, will make adorable pets. They are among the 122 dogs looked after by the Kandy Association for Community Protection through Animal Welfare (KACPAW). They have been vaccinated against Parvo, DHL and Rabies. The KACPAW is offering these pets to kind homes. Animal lovers are also invited to provide a day’s meal to the dogs.

Massive Rs. 285m fraud bared

A massive fraud costing the state Rs. 285 million has been bared following a probe into a contract for supplying medical equipment to the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Children's Hospital, a Committee appointed by the UNF government had revealed.

LTTE recruited 709 children in 2003 - UNICEF

The latest UNICEF report on children affected by war in Sri Lanka states that 709 children have been recruited by the LTTE during 2003 alone adding that they had information that at least 1,301 children were still in the LTTE.

Citizenship applications only on prescribed format

The Ministry of Internal Security referring to media reports regarding a directive issued by the President pertaining to citizenship grant states that the President only stressed on the need for persons of Indian origin to apply for citizenship in the prescribed format.
