Members of the Ruhunu University Students Union comprising Arts Faculty students who were celebrating the signing of the SLFP-JVP Alliance agreement were attacked yesterday by a group of Science Faculty Student Union members. Four students including a pregnant undergraduate were hospitalised. The University closed the Science Faculty indefinitely following the violence. Police said they have not yet arrested anyone in connection with the clash but according to eyewitnesss' statement four members of the Science Faculty Student Union were behind the incident. A disciplinary inquiry has been ordered. |
