Top German award for Kalutara RoyalPalms Hotel Royal Palms Beach Hotel Kalutara was the recipient of the "Primo award" for the year 2003 as one of the best selling hotels out of 4,000 hotels in 80 different destinations worldwide. Royal Palms Beach Hotel is the first hotel in Sri Lanka to be recognised by Thomas Cook worldwide for its quality. Director General Manager for Royal Palms Beach Hotel and Tangerine Beach Hotel Jan Van Twest accepted the award at a ceremony in Germany recently. The evaluations were done based on customer feedback on consistency of standards maintained and food and service. The hotel is featured in the Fernreisen brochure which caters to a high spending market in Germany. Thomas Cook worldwide is the third largest tour operator in the world represented in Europe, UK, Africa, India, Asia/Pacific and the USA. Thomas Cook operates their own airline and over eight million people travel through them on holiday to various destinations every year with a data base of over 500,000 repeat clients. Over 600,000 holiday package brochures are printed in different languages annually. Walkers Tours, which handles the bulk of in bound traffic to Sri Lanka is the local handling agent for over two decades. This luxurious beach resort is just over six years old since it began its operations, which has 124 large boarded floor sea facing rooms with executive suites and one Royal Suite with three restaurants two bars and a night club and a magnificent swimming pool which runs along side the hotel. Royal Palms Beach Hotel was also awarded the top TUI Holly award in 2000 and Hotelplan Netherlands Quality Award in 2001 and 2002. Chairman George Ondaatjie said that this is a milestone as the organisation is celebrating 40 years in operation. |
