Maldivian U-17 cricketers to play here

During his visit to Maldives for the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Inauguration of President Gayoom, Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando, who is also a former President of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board visited the Maldivian Indoor Cricket Academy, and held discussions with the Maldivian cricket authorities and extended Sri Lanka's support for the development of the game in the Maldives.

As a gesture of goodwill Minister Tyronne Fernando invited an under 17 Maldivian team for a week's tour of Sri Lanka for a coaching camp and to play a few matches.

The Maldivian team will arrive in Sri Lanka and play a match with Sri Rahula College, Matara on January 7 and 8 and on the 9 morning the Maldivian cricketers will attend a special coaching session at the International Cricket Stadium at Moratuwa.

They will also play matches with the Colombo South Cricket School on January 10 and 11 for which arrangements were made. which are arranged on the initiative of Foreign Minister, Tyronne Fernando.
