Junior stickers runners-up in Singapore The Sri Lanka men's junior hockey team emerged runners-up at the inaugural Asian Hockey Federation Cup junior hockey tournament held in Singapore recently. Sri Lanka went down to Chinese Taipei by three goals to one in the final with N. D. B. Dissanayake scoring the solitary goal. In the semifinals Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh 5-4 on penalties after the game ended in a one all draw. M. M. Gazaley scored the goal for Sri Lanka. In the penalty shoot out M. M. Gazaley, H. S. Hettiarachchi, N. D. B. Dissanayake, Farshad Nalawangsa and S. B. Dissanayake did the scoring for Sri Lanka. In the preliminary round Sri Lanka beat Macau by three goals to one with M. M. Gazaley scoring a hattrick of tries. In another match Sri Lanka defeated Oman 2 nil with N. A. Hewage and M. Gazaley scoring a goal each. |
