The 10th SAARCLAW Conference will be held at Karachi, from February 20 to 22, 2004. This was announced by Mr. Mehmood Mandviwalla, Vice President of SAARCLAW in a press release issued yesterday. SAARCLAW is an association of the legal communities comprises Judges, Lawyers and Legal Academics of the members countries. The organization was founded in Colombo, in October 1991 and has since then established Country Chapters and representatives in each of the seven SAARC Countries. The Pakistan Conference will be hosted by SAARCLAW Pakistan headed by Justice (retd) G. H. Malik, ex-Judge of the High Court of Sindh at Karachi and President of SAARCLAW Pakistan. It is expected to be the largest gathering of legal fraternity from Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. At least 400 foreign delegates including Chief Justices, eminent practioners, Vice Chancellors and Professors of law will be attending the Conference. The Conference is expected to explore the vital interface between law on the one hand and social and economic change on the other, states the release. |
