by Kalutara group correspondent The services rendered by the late Sir Cyril de Zoysa to society at large, specially to the Buddhist society is really great. His name will shine in the annals of the Buddhist history forever. Owing to the noble services he has done to the clergy he was reckoned as a great pillar of the recent history of Sri Lanka, said Ven. Bellana Pemananda Thera Mahanayake of the Amarapura Ariyawansa Saddhamma Ukthika Maha Nikaya. He was addressing the 26th commemoration meeting of the late Sir Cyril de Zoysa at kalutara Bodhi premises recently. The Mahanayake observed further at length the various services rendered by him. He said that the late Cyril de Zoysa was able to become the leader of the Senate. At the culmination of service, as a businessman he was able to shrine as a well-known business magnate, the Nayake Thera said. By improving the Kalutara Bodhi Shrine he was able to make it surpass all other places of religious worship important in Sri Lanka. The present Bodhi Trust which he created is continuing his religious services with whole hearted faith and this should be appreciated by all, the Maha Nayake stated. Ven. Mawala Indarathana Thera the Chief Sanghanayake of Bentara Palatha, refiring to the magnificent work of the late Sir Cyril De Zoysa said all Buddhists should follow his ways of serving one's own religion and society at large. |
