MoneyGram appoints Sterling Merchant as agents here Sterling Merchant Investments Ltd., a front runner in merchant banking services have been appointed agents in Sri Lanka for MoneyGram International, USA, a statement from the company said. MoneyGram International is the world's largest money order issuer and second largest in money transfer operations. With Sterling Merchant's tie up, MoneyGram International will have access to locations in Colombo and outstations and will have more business points when the services are expanded shortly. At present the MoneyGram service would be available through all Sterling Merchant offices in Kollupitiya, Kandy, Galle, Bandarawela, Panadura, Dambulla, Wennappuwa, Kiribathgoda, Negombo, Kurunegala, Battaramulla. Currently the MoneyGram service in these locations will be used only to receive money quickly and safely. Through their extensive network of agents who operate from more than 60,000 locations in over 155 countries MoneyGram helps people to transfer their money immediately and the beneficiary is able to receive funds in less than 10 minutes without any complicated procedure and even without the need for a bank account, cash being handed over immediately whilst other services can take days or even weeks. In addition, MoneyGram offers the sender a free call to talk to the beneficiary in Sri Lanka. The sender only has to go to any MoneyGram office located close by, pay the required money and obtain an eight digit reference number. This reference number and the other details could inform the beneficiary during the two minutes free call given by them or faxed or even posted to the beneficiary. The beneficiary in turn has to present this number at any MoneyGram office close to his/her residence fill a simple form and with proper identification money is handed over free of any hassles. MoneyGram money transfers will be very useful to people working overseas and need to send money to their loved ones or friends in Sri Lanka, the statement said. |
