Meadow Lea to make Indoor Cricket taste better Burns Philp, the Australian based multi-national food company has come forward as one of the sponsors of the upcoming finals of the Mercantile Indoor Cricket Tournament, the second round which is scheduled to commence in January at Austasia Sports Club, Thalawathugoda. Known as one of the best bakery ingredient supplier in Sri Lanka, Burns Philp has taken a keen interest in indoor cricket. Director Sales of Burns Philps S.B.M. Padmasiri says as distributors of Australia's No. 1 brand Meadow Lea, we are looking forward to tie up on a long-term basis with the future line up of indoor cricket tournaments, a game, we feel that has a lot of potential". Presently the status of the tournament after very closely contested matches is as follows. The following teams have succeeded in getting through to the final round. Division 1: Favourites and Lanka Yalta have succeeded in getting into the finals. This will be a very competitive match as both teams are packed with national players with international experience. Division 2: Four teams - HNB, New Olympia, Nawaloka and Lanka Yalta (cubs) have come into the semi-final stage, from these, 2 teams will qualify for the finals. Division 3: After a touch battle between 22 teams, some new entrants have made it to Div. 3 with this version of cricket and now 8 teams have qualified of the final round. These teams are Ceylon Tours, Growth Lanka, Explore Lanka, TICC, Hidramani, New Olympia, Paradigm and Amana Takaful. Promotions Manager Roshani Raju invites the public to be a part of the exciting final round of the tournament at Austasia and confirms all arrangements have been made to show the final matches of all three divisions live on TV on January 17, 24 and 31. |
