Over 7000 attend Kotmale mobile service by Kandy South group correspondent The Ministry of Education, Industries, Mines and Mineral Development, Social Services and Rehabilitation and Estate Infrastructure Facilities of the Central Province conducted a very successful mobile service camp for the residents of Tyspane and Kotmale at the Nawa Tyspane Maha Vidyalaya in Kotmale. Over 7000 residents participated in the mobile service. Wheelchairs and crutches were provided to the disabled persons while Elders Identity Cards were issued to persons over the age of 65 so that they will receive priority whilst waiting in the queues. These Identity Cards will also help them in their travels without having to wait in queues which is an ordeal considering their age and physical condition. Elder residents expressed gratitude to Minister Velusamy Radhakrishnan for having issuing them with this important document which will be an asset in the evening of their lives. The other services provided were an eye camp where spectacles were issued. The Dental Camp attended to their dental needs including extractions and fillings and gave them advise on dental care. An ayurvedic camp was also held. Psychiatric treatment was also provided to the mentally retarded and affected persons and help them to lead normal lives. Assistance was also provided to the disabled and the widows. Vocational training was also provided to the disabled and assistance extended to the visually handicapped persons through the 'Blind Rehabilitation Fund'. Minister Velusamy Radhakrishnan expressed satisfaction at the services provided and said that similar camps will be held in other distant areas to create an awareness among the residents. |
