by Anura Maitipe The ITN will launch a special musical programme "Lanka Abimani" to inspire the cultural and traditional values of arts, songs and music of Sri Lanka. A live telecast will beam at Queen Elizabeth Jetty in Colombo Harbour on 31st night, ITN Chairman Newton Gunaratne said at a news conference yesterday. The programme has been initiated by the ITN to mark the 25th anniversary of its inception.The ITN has selected certain areas of arts and culture which would enrich the musical taste of the people. And certainly this is not a another "Paduru party" or "Sngeetha Bajauwa"Chairman emphasised. The theme of this programme would be a dream of "Tambapanni" and the interpretation of "Titanic mania". This is another fine art work of Pemasiri Kemadasa. The popular singers like Victor Ratnayaka, T.M. Jayaratne, Predeepa Dhrmadasa, Jagath Wickrmasinghe, Lakshman Wijesekara, Karunaratne Divulgane, Weerasiri Malwatta, Charitha Priyadarshani and Edward Jayakody will also participate in this event. This programme will be sponsored by Sri Lanka Port Authority,Shipping Corporation,Sri Lanka Navy and Lak Handa he said. |
