Kantale dam in danger

The Kantale Dam which burst in 1986 causing large-scale destruction to lives, livestock and crops is once more in danger of collapsing due to authorities ignoring warnings against using the road way over the dam for heavy vehicles.

Government to set up religious unity committees

The Government has decided to set up religious unity committees at national and district level under the auspices of the Ministries of Buddha Sasana, Christian Affairs and Muslim and Hindu Religious Affairs to prevent religious tension and maintain peace throughout the country.
