by Sarath Malalasekera The year end concert of the Police Preschool was held yesterday at the Tower Hall, Colombo with the participation of IGP Indra de Silva and Mrs. Wasanthi de Silva as chief guests. Founder and President of the Pelpola Vipassi Foundation Ven. Pelpola Vipassi Thera also participated. Twenty items including dancing and songs by the little ones were conducted to the tune of Police Band provided by the Police Music Director SP Lancelot Perera and his troupe of musicians. It was a very colourful morning for the Chief Guests, parents of the preschool children and well-wishers who participated in the musical show of the little ones. All the little children performed like very mature and talented artistes. One of them was little Mithunika Nishanthi. She took part in almost all the items and performed brilliantly. A special feature was the participation of Woman Inspector Rani Galpotha, who was responsible for establishing the Police Preschool in May 12, 1988. At the end of the concert all the little ones were each given a token in appreciation of their excellent performances. The little ones also gave a token each to their teachers. The little ones were trained for the concert by Preschool teachers led by its principal Ms. Pathmamala Atapattu. Other teachers who assisted the principal were Prema Samarasinghe, Kavmini Navaratne, Renuka Damayanthi, Kanthi Kodituwakku, Pathmalatha Gamwasam, Irangani Abeygunawardena and D.M. Yasawathie. Little Tharindu Umayangana, Ishani Dinujaya and Hividu Sanasinghe made the welcome speeches. The vote of thanks was delivered by little Thevin Manujith in Sinhala, Lahiru Sandaruwan in English and Shishani Menuranga in Tamil. Police Public Relations and Media Director Senior SP Rienzie Perera, Chief Inspector D.P. Siriwardena, OIC and Chief Inspector S.W. Mulleriyawa, OIC, Media assisted in organising the Preschool Concert. |
