Lake House journalist assaulted

A group of persons allegedly assaulted Lake House photographer Avinash Bandara while the latter was covering the fasting unto death campaign by the Jathika Sangha Sammelanaya demanding anti conversion laws opposite the Buddhasasana Ministry yesterday.

Avinash has produced his press accreditation card when it was demanded by the attacker and concentrated on photographing the fasting monks.

Suddenly, the attacker in a yellow robe had summoned his companions and hit Avinash despite his identification as a photojournalist attached to the Dinamina, our sister newspaper.

They then dispersed leaving Avinash alone when his fellow journalists came for help protesting the attack.

Cinnamon Garden Police are conducting investigations.
