Indices increase slightly The Colombo Bourse indices that experienced a negative trend due to the political uncertainty in the country and the 15% tax on share trading profit yesterday increased slightly with the All Share Price Index rising by 27.6 points to 1,078.4 and the Milanka price index to 1,928.3 points up by 56.8 points. Turnover for the day was Rs 79.28 million. Domestic purchases were Rs 67.16 and foreign purchases were Rs 12 million. Large parcels of SLT, Distilleries and Grain Elevators were traded yesterday. East West, Pelwatte, Ceylinco Housing, Vanik Incorporation Limited and Madulsima were the top five gainers of the day. The Bank, Finance and Insurance Sector moved to 2, 504.9 points from 2,410.4 points the previous day. Constructing engineering sector moved to 261 points from 255.1, Diversified to 306.6 points from 302.3 and telecom to 123.3 points from the 120 points the previous day. |
