PA-JVP talks end successfully

The People's Alliance yesterday announced that its talks with the JVP concluded very satisfactorily.

It maintained that the party's stance on the peace process will remain despite a possible alliance with the JVP.

PA Media Spokesman Dr. Sarath Amunugama said the basics agreed at the talks were unanimously seconded at the highest command of the SLFP, the PA's largest constituent party, and were presented before the PA executive committee.

According to the spokesperson five constituent parties had given the green light to go ahead with the agreement while the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) and the Communist Party (CP) had asked for more time.
