Azwer The youth of our country are taking the lead in rallying round Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in an unprecedented manner. The peace process initiated by the Prime Minister should be allowed to be pursued to its logical conclusion. There should be no obstruction placed before it. The take over of the three ministries and the proroguing of Parliament have filled the people with fear and anxiety, stated Parliamentary Affairs Minister A.H.M. Azwer at the UNP Balamandala in the Puttalam District. "It is unethical, improper and unparliamentary to topple a government which was elected by the people by unfair means. It is obvious that the PA with the support of the JVP are trying to overthrow the Government in order to get a few portfolios. The masses have proved beyond doubt that the Prime Minister has won the hearts of the people of our country. The rousing and unprecedented welcome which the Prime Minister received when he returned from America at the Katunayaka Airport and all along the route to Temple Trees is eloquent and convincing proof of his popularity," said the Minister. Palitha Ranga Bandara, M.P., M.I.B. Hafi, Member of PS and several others addressed the gathering. Office bearers of Yovun Balamandala were also elected at the end of this meeting. |
