Massive narcotics racket uncovered by Sarath Malalasekera The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) yesterday morning uncovered a massive racket of heroin distribution following the arrest of a woman and two men who were alleged to be in possession of three kilos and 79 grammes of heroin valued over Rs. one million. The special PNB team deployed by Crimes, Crime Intelligence, Organised Crimes and Narcotics Range DIG Jayantha Wickremaratne also took into custody a 9mm pistol with 428 bullets of 9mm, .38mm and .48 mm. The three suspects were taken into custody from Kimbulaella, Modera along with the consignment of heroin. This is the second large scale detection by the PNB within a week, a senior PNB official told the 'Daily News' yesterday. The special team also investigating to ascertain the other local dealers who are alleged to have involved in the hard drug trafficking along with the suspects now detained by the PNB. |
