Fast bowler Tharanga Lakshitha took five wickets for 56 runs to give Sri Lanka 'A' a slender first innings lead of 16 runs in their 3-day tour match against India Under-19s played at Madhavrao Scindia cricket ground in Rajkot here yesterday.

Lakshitha's spell saw the Indian youngsters dismissed for 219 in reply to Sri Lanka 'A's first innings of 235-9 declared.

By the close of the second day, Sri Lanka 'A' had extended their overall lead to 196 runs with seven second innings wickets in hand by scoring 180-3. Skipper Naveed Nawaz who made 52 in the first innings was undefeated on 33 and Anushka Polonowita on 21 not out.

Earlier in the innings opener Ian Daniel struck ten fours and a six in compiling 69 off 91 balls. Thilina Kandamby top scored for Sri Lanka 'A' in the first innings with a stroke-filled 73 off 104 balls with 13 fours.
