Kandy South Group Correspondent One hundred and fifty trade stalls at a cost of Rs. 69 million will be constructed in the proposed trade complex in the Gampola town said the Central Region Development Minister Tissa Attanayake, who was on an inspection tour of the trade complex site. Minister further said that in addition to the main road from Gampola town to Kahatapitiya, a by pass road will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 45 lakhs. Three small jetties will be constructed on the banks of the Mahaweli Ganga in Gampola and these projects will be funded by the Asian Development Bank, and they will come under the Ministry of Central Region Development. Minister Tissa Attanayake said that in providing small grade facilities in the Central Region, a sum of Rs. 3649 million has been provided for. Top priority has been given to development of all these projects. This has been possible due to large sums of foreign aid flowing into the country. Also present on this occasion were Chairman Gampola Urban Council Gamini Hettiarachchi, Co-ordinating Officer Low Cost Utilities, Indika Premaratne and a large number of government officials. |
