Data Access Lanka, a joint venture between Pacific Netinvest B.V. and Golden Key Company Limited has commenced operations in Sri Lanka to offer International Long Distance (ILD) services. Data Access has been granted an External Gateway Operator (EGO) license by Sri Lanka Telecommunication Regulatory Commission to provide International Long Distance services to and from Sri Lanka. Data Access India Ltd., would be the first Indian telecom company to offer ILD services in Sri Lanka.

As part of this strategy to establish local partners in new telecom markets, Data Access India Ltd., will steer its Sri Lanka operations in partnership with Golden Key Company Limited, a group company of Ceylinco Consolidated.

With its unique hybrid network architecture of TDM and IP technology, and interconnection with more than 110 carriers globally, the telecom multinational expects to carry significant voice and data traffic and offer flexibility interms of route management.

CEO The Golden Key Group Khavan Perera said that 'Data Access' success in the recently deregulated Indian ILD market is quite impressive and their experience will be invaluable in scripting a success story in the dereguated Sri Lankan ILD market"

COO, Data Access Indian Ltd. Alak Saha said that "Sri Lanka is a strategic proposition for us and we are glad to be the first Indian Telecom Company to enter this market. Our global network architecture and interconnect agreements provide us the edge to leverage untapped potential in the Sri Lankan market.

We expect to attain a 25% share of the 250 million minutes a year ILD market in Sri Lanka. The biggest business group in Sri Lanka who bring in the expertise to manage the local environment."

Data Access Lanka (Private) Limited is a 49:51 joint venture between Pacific Netinvest B.V. and Golden Key Company Limited, Pacific Netinvist B.V. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Data Access (India) Limited. Data Access Lanka (Private) Limited operates the External Gateway Operator (EGO) license to provide International Long Distance (ILD) Carrier Services to and form Sri Lanka. It offers a wide range of wholesale carrier, wholesale IN and Enterprise services. Data Access is India's second largest International Long Distance (ILD) player with a 30% share of the total ILD market.

The company operates several telecommunications licenses in India, the Untied Kingdom and the United States for voice, data and broadcasting services.
