Conceptnursery.com signs MoUs to explore different ICT markets

by Sudarshana Perera

Conceptnursery.com, Sri Lanka's first incubator set up to encourage entrepreneurs and provide 'wherewithal' to start ICT enterprises has signed two MoUs with IndiaCo, in India and Lotus Nepal Incubator in Nepal. The move is targeted to work closely to help and explore different markets on ICT.

IndiaCo is a Pune based technology incubator. The agreement was singed at a regional workshop on Business Incubation for the Asia Pacific Region in Bangalore. CEO of Conceptnursery Mohamed Azmeer represented Sri Lanka. "It was encouraging to see the possibility of many regional and transnational partnerships 'opening up' in the days ahead. The choice of Bangalore, often called the 'silicon valley' of India was not lost on us as we saw what has been achieved when businesses and Government work in close harmony.

We saw what encouragement the Government of Karnataka gave to businesses and motivated them' said Azmeer. "We also met Barbara Harley, who assured us of our own IT related tenants tying up with IBI (the Silicon Valley's state suppoted international business incubator), which will be a tremendous boost for our entrepreneurs wanting to enter the US market.

We also had meetings with Vivek Chowdri from infoDev, Eduardo from Brazil who was overlooking the iDesk and many notable personnel from the Indian Government who were responsible for IT incubation in India" he said.

Speaking on the experience gathered during the visit Azmeer said that they were also given a field tour of STPI,(Software Technology Park India) InfoSys and a few other operations. It was literally a breathtaking experience, with many valuable contacts made.

"We are also happy to have these amazing Indians extend such warm and willing hands of friendship to Business"he said 'Business Incubation' is fast becoming a key word that helps start up and support businesses until they are established and 'on their own'. A much needed program, it is somewhat the answer to the entrepreneur's prayer.

InfoDev, the Information for Development Program of World Bank along with the Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology and the Government of Karnataka conducted the regional workshop.
