Binupa takes the lead

Schoolboy from Wycherly International School 13 year old Binupa Wijesinghe leads the Lectra Monthly Medal Golf competition organised by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort with 740 points at the end of the competition for October held last week. Five rounds of this competition has been now completed.

Binupa Wijesinghe has been faring well in this competition getting 100 points in June, 100 in July, 250 in August, 100 in September and 190 in October.

In second place is another schoolboy Sanjay Wettimuni with 540 points and he made a dramatic climb to the second position by getting 350 points in the monthly medal contest for October and also got another 190 in August. In third position is his father Sidath Wettimuny.

This duo could have fared much better had they not dropped points in June, July, and September by not turning up for the competition.

The other positions in the Mens Division one competition are:

No. 4. Srinivas Rao 121 pts. 5. Primal Wijeyanaka 100 pts. 6. Tony Witham 89 pts. 7. Shehan Ramanayake 75 pts. 8. Joakim Engman 73 pts. 9. Nihal Alagoda 65 pts. 10. Rohan de Silva 50 pts. The Ladies competition is led by Suwen Selvaratnam with 320 points and in second place is Indira Tibblin with 231 points. Occupying the third slot is Niloo Jayatillake with 198 points. The other placings are: 4. Sally Collins 135 pts. 5. Yvonne Abhayaratne 83 pts. 6. Manori Jayakoddy 74 pts. 7. Roshini Sangani 55 pts. 8. Arlene Kelaart 40 pts. 9. Chathuri Engman 38 pts. Veinert Holm tops the Mens Division II with 433 points followed by Mike Emmott with 422 points. The other placings are 3. Sam Gunaratne 378 pts. 4. Ananda Manawadu 350 pts. and Nils Parsons 350 pts. 5. Poul Rasmussen 270 pts. 6. Sampath Hemachandra 264 pts. 7. K. Suzuki 250 pts. 8. Sahil Malhothra 243 pts. 9. K. Noonayama 225 pts. 10. Chamil Wickremasinghe 186 pts.
