At the UNP Executive Committee Meeting held at Sirikotha, Pitakotte on November 10, it was decided to condemn President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga's act of taking over the portfolios of Defence, Interior and Mass Communication, stated a UNP media communique, issued yesterday.

This was done when Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was in USA engaged with the American President to forge ahead the peace process and to obtain international cooperation for the country's economic progress and when the budget was in the offing to give the people the peace dividends the UNP communique stated.
