Two dead as Maoists clash with police in eastern India PATNA, India, Monday (AFP) Two people were killed as suspected Maoist rebels clashed with police in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, an official said. Inspector Krishna Singh was killed when guerrillas attacked his police team around 8:00 pm (1430 GMT) in the Gaya district, 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the state capital Patna, district magistrate Brajesh Mehrotra said. One of the suspected Maoists was also killed in the gunbattle, which was continuing. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area and there may be more casualties, the magistrate said. |
