Sigiriya Group Correspondent Governor of the Central Province Monty Gopallawa who chaired the 25th anniversary of the Mahanuwara Lamarakshaka Bauddha Samithiya, applauded the unblemished record of the strict discipline. He said the board of management armed with the code of compassion dedicatedly look into the affairs of the innocent orphaned children. He said one of the children, Ven. Deepangoda Dhammika is now receiving university education. Gopallawa said the model at administration here must be followed by other institutions of this nature. He said that there are fourteen girls who have suffered physical torture. We cannot send them back to their homes, because the so called 'home sanctuary' had ruined them. In this context, the Mahanuwara Lamarakshaka Bauddha Samithiya does a great service. In recognition of their service, if any organisation come forward to share a bit of their burden, it would be a great help, for which I made an earnest appeal, the Governor said. Ven. Abanwelle Pannasekera Annunayake Thera, patron adviser of the samithiya said the contemporary events of society seemed to be in a bit of a mess. Water that extinguishes fire turned out to be an agent of destruction. R. M. M. Wijetunga, the Commissioner of Child Probation, Mrs. Nanda Ekanayake, Additional District Secretary, R. S. Abeynayake, Chairman and Mrs. Chandra Rajapaksha the Secretary also spoke. |
