Thrills and spills
There were thrills and spills at the 31st annual Royal-Thomian Regatta on Saturday at the Colombo Rowing Club where the school by the sea won the boat race by a whisker and a lead in the series between the two arch rivals. The event which saw some outstanding feats of scullery, also had its breathtaking moments. Rs.14b for regional projects

The Government has allocated Rs. 14 billion for infrastructure upgrading and rehabilitation projects. The Government is in the process of implementing these projects through five Regional Development Ministries, Government sources said.

Major mobile phone racket busted at BIA

A consignment of 955 mobile phones and 10 transceivers valued over Rs. 9.6 million belonging to an Indian was forfeited by the Customs while being smuggled into the country, a senior Customs officer told the Daily News yesterday.
