The Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) will conduct a half-day Workshop on incorporation of Rice flour in bakery products on October 30 at the Institute auditorium at 363, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. This Workshop is a follow-up to the ITI 07-point strategy for the better utilization of Rice that was released in August this year. One of the recommendations that were made in this strategy was the incorporation of Rice flour in bread and other bakery products, states the Institute in a press release. Programmes for the dissemination of the technologies for the utilization of up to 10% of Rice flour in bread and other bakery products have already been held for bakers at Embilipitiya at the request of the Mahaweli Authority and at the bakeries of the Welikada Prison and the Sri Lanka Army camp at Panagoda. Similar programs have been scheduled at the bakeries of the Sri Lanka Air Force based at Katunayake and at the Sri Lanka Navy at Welisara. Other provincial programs have also been planned and will be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Workshop that has now been planned by the ITI is to fulfill the several requests that have been received from bakery owners throughout the island. |
