Minister Attanayake releases book

Sigiriya Group Correspondent

The Parliament is the holiest shrine room of democracy, to which I offer the voices of my constituents by this book titles, "I have spoken to a news paper." This is also a supplication of peoples expectations who exercised their privilege of universal franchise to give mandatory power to the UNF Government under the leadership of the Prime Minister to steer the ship of democracy to the shore of peace and prosperity under the "Regaining Sri Lanka" banner.

The Minister of Central Region Development Tissa Attanayake said so at the formal presentation ceremony of the book "I have spoken to a newspaper" authored by him, held at Kandy Arts Council.

The Speaker of the Parliament Joseph Michael Perera, the Minister of Mass Communication Imthiaz Bakeer Markar, the Minister of Registration of Lands Lucky Jayawardana and Governor of CP - Monty Gopallawa were among the distinguished gathering, to mark the occasion.

Minister Tissa Attanayake said that he respects the freedom of the press which occupies the fourth estate in democracy. It is an arbitrator and an explorer of truth. Thus I consider this book is a tribute to their privilege which should be preserved as a sacred property and exercised with utmost caution - as it possesses an absolute power to enlightened the world with wisdom.

The Speaker of Parliament Joseph Michael Perera said that Minister Tissa Attanayake, being born in an historical province of Kandy, climbing all the hazardous mountains of hardships has risen to the peak of people's confidence. Now he is a Minister who has proved to be a creative person with intellectual abilities to tackle any problems. He exemplifies our universities could model great personalities to be productive to serve the country.

The Minister of Mass Communication Imthiaz Bakeer Markar said that Tissa Attanayake who had been a university colleague of him, displayed qualities of leadership, having held several posts in the student council. People respect him for his simplicity endowed with a lovable personality and as an established parliamentarian. His book further demonstrates his resourcefulness for which I owe my respect.
