Police re-imposed the curfew in Kinniya yesterday afternoon following
renewed tension in the Muslim majority town, Police said.
"Curfew was imposed 1.30 pm as a precautionary action to avoid
tension going out of control," a spokesman for the China Bay police
said. He said angry Muslim crowds took to the streets after Thursday
night's curfew was lifted yesterday morning, which compelled police to
re-impose the curfew indefinitely
A Police curfew was clamped down on Thursday afternoon after Muslims
staging a hartal against the LTTE went on the rampage.
