More facilities needed for schools - SB

Agriculture, Livestock and Samurdhi Minister S. B. Dissanayake said necessary facilities should be provided to schools to provide better education to students which would lead students to gain excellent results.

The Minister made these observations at a ceremony held at Poramadulla National School to hand over prizes to students selected from six schools in Hanguranketha zonal education division who have qualified for university entrance by obtaining highest results.

At this ceremony a gift parcel which contains two sets of clothes, books and other school materials were offered to 92 students. Each gift parcel cost over Rs.5,000.

The Minister said students have been given a good education in Sri Lanka. Students gain higher results to enter universities. In addition, some students go to foreign countries to follow their Phd by gaining international reputation to the country and sometimes they become the leaders of the country.

"Therefore, maximum facilities should be given to students in schools. This will help maintain a higher education level in Sri Lanka," he said.

Dissanayake said due to the dedication made by teachers to give good education to students.

The Sri Lankan education sector has gained a higher position in the region. But there are no facilities in some schools. Immediate steps have to be taken to provide required facilities to these schools.

In order to gain facilities to schools, there should be proper coordination between parents and teachers.
