Lloyd Triestino resumes Adriatic express service Lloyd Triestino is to resume direct calls into its home port of Trieste with the launch of its new express service adriatic via Colombo from China. The new service is to be launched on October 28 with the sailing of the 2764 teu Merkur Bay from the Port of Ningbo and will make its maiden call at Colombo on November 9. Thereafter vessels will call Colombo weekly every Sunday under the agency of Triestino Lanka Shipping Limited. With this new service Sri Lankan exporters will be able to move their cargo to South European and Central European destinations such as Munich, Nuremberg, Austria, with better transit times and lower cost. With better rail road network via Trieste, will also expedite overall door-to-door transit times. The Adriatic ports of Venice in Italy, Koper in Solvenia and Rijeka in Croatia are also included on the Schedule. Due to company's hub at Taranto in Southern Italy further connections will be offered to a wide range of East Med and Black Sea ports. Lloyd Triestino Chairman Pier-Luigi Maneschi said that Exports from China and South Asia into the Adriatic and Central/Eastern Europe continue to grow and we believe that this service will offer shippers the best possible routing options, Maneschi said. "We will also increase our marketing efforts in Central/Eastern Europe, for manufacturers in these countries to explore the opportunities to export their goods to Asia. In addition to our direct calls in Hong Kong and China, we offer excellent connections to much of Asia, he said. "We also see this service assisting us in improving our services to and from East Med and Black Sea ports. Via Taranto, we already provide Asian links with our CEM and FEM services. Now we are adding a third weekly service, improving both frequency and port coverage," he said. For Sri Lankan imports, Lloyd Triestino offers an express service from 03 major Chinese ports, Hong Kong and Malaysia. This ADR service is being operated in partnership with CMA-CGM and will utilize seven ships, each of approx 2400 teu. Five ships will also be provided by Lloyd Triestino and two by the former. The service will operate for port rotation such as Ningbo - Xiamen - Chiwan - Hong Kong - Tanjung Pelepas - Port Kelang - Colombo - Taranto - Venice - Koper - Trieste - Rijeka - Taranto - Singapore - Ningbo. Transit times - for Import Cargo to Colombo 11 days ex Ningbo, 10 days ex Xiamen, 9 days ex Chiwan and 8 days ex Hong Kong. For Export Cargo to Adriatic ports from Colombo 11 days to Taranto, 13 days to Venice, 14 days to Koper, 15 days to Trieste and 16 days to Rijeka. |
