Over 2,200 complaints attended to at mobile service

A total of 2,220 cases of complaints were attended to out of 2,655 complaints received at the Ministerial Mobile Service. The mobile service organised by the Ministry of Justice, Law Reform & National Integration in association with the Vanni Rehabilitation Ministry was inaugurated by the Minister of Vanni Rehabilitation Noordeen Mashoor at Erukkalampiddy Muslim Maha Vidyalaya in Puttalam on Sunday (19th).

It was held for the displaced families, living in the Divisional Secretary Division of Puttalam, Mundal and Wanathawillu and the host community. Minister Mashoor, addressing the gathering paid a tribute to Minister W. J. M. Lokubandara for his prompt action to conduct a mobile service in Puttalam following his request. He assured that more and more mobile services of other Ministries to benefit displaced families, would be organised in the future.

259 cases of complaints were referred to other departments and 134 complaints are pending at the mobile service. The institutions that assisted the mobile services were Registration of Persons Department, Registrar-General's Department, Motor Traffic Department, Immigration and Emigration Department, Foreign Employment Bureau, REPPIA, Vanni Rehabilitation Ministry, DS Divisions of Puttalam, Mundal and Wanathavillu, Police Department of Puttalam, Mundal and Wanathawillu Divisions and Puttalam Front Office.

Additional Secretary to the Vanni Rehabilitation Ministry A. C. M. Razeek, Senior Assistant Secretary M. I. Seyed Ahamed and Justice Ministry's Senior Assistant Secretary, W. A. Senaratne were among those present.

Road Week in Puttalam

Meanwhile, Minister Mashoor inaugurated the Road Week Program organised by the Road Development Authority at 4th mile post at Rahumath-Nagar along Mannar-Puttalam road. The Road Week had been organised to construct new roads and rehabilitate existing roads where relocated villages and welfare centers are located to benefit thousands of displaced families. A total of about 30 k.m. stretches of roads have been earmarked for development, under the direction of Minister Mashoor.

Attending another function Minister Mashoor also distributed about 750 National Identity Cards to displaced and local persons, living in Kalpitiya. They applied for new NICis at recent mobile service held at Puttalam Al-Aqsa Maha Vidyalaya.

The function was held at the Kalpitiya Divisional Secretary's office under the Chairmanship of Divisional Secretary of Kalpitiya M. G. C. Bandara.
