Dutch Minister to sign development pacts Minister for Development Co-operation of the Kingdom of The Netherlands Mrs. Van Ardenne-van der Hoeven will sign contribution agreements for three development programmes in support of the peace process and local economic development in Trincomalee next month. The signing ceremony will take place in Trincomalee and form part of the official visit of the Dutch Minister to Sri Lanka from Novmber 3 to 5. The objective of her visit is to convey a strong message of support for the ongoing Sri Lankan peace process. The Minister will have a series of meetings with Government Ministers, the leader of the Opposition and other donor representatives in Colombo, discussing the political and developmental situation in the country. She will travel to the Trincomalee District where she will meet Government representatives, political party leaders, NGO's, local communities, and private sector representatives. Minister van Ardenne is to visit Sri Lanka on the invitation of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The Ambassador of The Netherlands, Mrs. Susan Blankhard will accompany the Minister and her staff during her visit. |
