Singapore beat CNS - 82/46

The Combined Nationalised Services team went down to Singapore by 46 goals to 82 in their opening match of the Singapore open invitation international netball championships at the Biddock stadium yesterday.

The Hatton National Bank team along with the Combined Nationalised Services team are representing Sri Lanka at this tournament and are vying for honours along with other teams from Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.

Singapore led from the start in this game and went on to register a convincing victory at the end. In the first quarter Singapore led 16-12 and were leading 38-23 at the end of the second quarter. They extended their lead to 58-36 at the end of the third quarter and went on to win the game by a convincing margin of 82-46.

Singapore were the runners up at the previous Asian championships and strong contenders for the title.

The combined Nationalised Services team was led by Damayanthi Jayatilleke and included N. Samanthika, R. Victoria, M. Preethika, M. Priyadarshani, R. A. Yapa, N. Wijeratne, D. Mediwaka, U. Dissanayake, P. Kamalani, P. Liyanage, S. Wickremarachchi, I. Jayaweera, D. Swarnasili and V. Mallikarachchi.
