Hashim wins first two matches The IBSF World Snooker Championship - 2003 which commenced on 12th October, 2003 at the Jiangmen Stadium, China had the participation of Sri Lanka's No. 1 Susantha Boteju and No. 2 Zuraish Hashim.Susantha Boteju making a late arrival at Jiangmen was drawn into the group "H" with a complement of tough players and lost his first three outings. But however he had regained his lost touch and turned around marvellously to beat Pascal Guillaume of France by 4 frames to nil. Meanwhile Zuraish Hashim drawn into group "C" and representing Sri Lanka making his debut was a much confident and polished player when he won his first two matches. Zuraish played creditably well during the morning session on Tuesday to overcome Leong Kuok Kei of China Macau by 4 frames to nil in the morning session. But was unfortunate to concede a walk over to Martin McCrudden of Ireland due to a late arrival at the stadium in the evening sessions. Both players yet have good chances of entering the knock out stage as they have to play 10 matches in each of their groups with only 4 matches yet completed. |
