CodeGen is an IT solutions provider specialising in the development and deployment of solutions that maximise the benefits that the Internet, Internet-related and other cutting edge technology can offer its clients.

CodeGen is a private limited company with offices in London, United Kingdom and Colombo. Its client base is concentrated in areas of project management, game development, travel and tourism, finance and banking. It was founded in 2000 by Dr. Harsha Subasinghe, a senior software engineer and project manager of a specialist IT solutions provider for the travel and tourism industry and Dr. Mike Hughes, a research scientist in software engineering and operational research at a leading United Kingdom university.

Recently CodeGen released its newest software product called Ru-Bank, which caters to rural banks and other micro finance companies. Ru-bank is the product of research into problems faced by the co-operative banking community in Sri Lanka and has been designed to provide affordable means of computerising all front and back office activities.

The prominent feature of the Ru-Bank is its capability of working in Sinhala. Ru-Bank is a mapping function for banking software. It computerises all banking functions.

The system generates day end and other reports within 15 minutes (which takes nearly two hours, manually.) All these Reports are compiled in Sinhala and the format is same as earlier reports. The end user will not find any difficulty in extracting information from reports. This system saves banking time which can be used to extend banking hours or any other valuable task.

Ru-Bank facilitates ease in managing Loan/Pawn/Deposit information.

Ru-Bank also facilitates convenient calculating interest for deposits. Currently it completes full interest calculation run within one hour which takes, three or four months to complete manually. Most of the times banks recruit additional staff in order to calculate interest for its account holders.

The Ru-Bank suite of software comes in two versions - Ru-Bank Office and Ru-Bank Office+. Ru-Bank Office is composed of two software modules: Ru-Bank Front Office and Ru-Bank Back Office. Together, these modules provide all the traditional banking facilities for a branch. It is based on client-server architecture that can be deployed in a Local Area Network using PCs, or as a stand-alone application running on a single computer. Ru-Bank has the ability to grow or shrink depending on size of the branch and workload, with new users or new computers being able to be introduced to the system within minutes.

This new system is now up and running in Land Mortgage Bank at Rambukkana. The launching ceremony will be held today at 10.30 a.m.

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority is another prominent client in Codegen's client base. Codegen is about to sign a contract with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority to deliver a computer solution for its Customer Service Centre.

Codegen has also released other software products. TravelBox is one of them. TravelBox is the world's most advanced range of software products and solution packages for Tour Operators, Consolidators, Car Hire Companies, Hoteliers and other distributors of travel and tourism products. TravelBox serves large number of clients in UK, USA and Australia.
